Today marks the start of the second project, I’m not sure if I mentioned this previously, but I aspire to be an environment artist. I’m perfectly happy working on characters or vehicles but my real passion in game art lies with the setting of a game, the level creation, the population of a space, the environment. This being the case, I decided to go with an environment brief.
The partially stylised brief gives us an image of a gate, the aim is to create a space that could exist on the other side. At first I wanted to go with the stylised shop front, but I saw the tri limit of 15k a little restricting. I want to have fun with these project, the 80k tri limit of through the gate project is the kind of fun I was looking for. I enjoy modelling props, it gives me more in the late game to play with (placement of assets/”PROPulation”).
To start of this project I have been pinning East Asian architecture and gardens to coincide with the theme of the gate. I plan on modelling a Zen garden in a busy East Asian city. That’s the plan anyway. Here’s a quick paint over of a white box to try and convey my idea.
