FMP 009: Living Room Props: Revelations

Since working on the living room assets I believe I was getting a far amount of work done, then I realised the walls aren’t textured, the floor isn’t textured, there’s nothing on the celling and there aren't any doors. This realisation set me back a bit.

I decided it would be best to get these broad strokes done before I continue on the other assets. This has been the first week where I have truly felt that I have more work than I have time to do it. The doors and ceiling beams were relatively easy to model and texture, but spending time on these assets have put a dent in my timing. I understand that it is my own fault for not taking these into account.

I’ve mentioned this several times now, but I believe that I am a fast worker, and I am still able to hit a high standard but there is a little too much on my plate this week. Along with these additional assets I mention I have also been given an art test to complete in two weeks. As it’s nearing the end of my time a university, I told myself I should start looking for a job. Last week I applied for an environment artist position at Foundry 42, on Wednesday of this past week I was emailed by the company telling me I have been shortlisted and that I had to complete an art test set by them.

I’ve been put in a really difficult position, spending time on the art test to hopefully get a job but in tern spending this time I should be using on my FMP. I've tried to balance the two as best I can but there are only so many hours in a day.

Towards the end of this week I decided to work overtime on the art test to get it complete as soon as possible to avoid taking any more time out of the project. I talked to my project partner and he has given me the green light. I hope to get it finished by next week.
